Ailments and Cures (LOGAN)

Maya sauntered into the Hospital Wing a scowl present on her face. As much as she did not want to be here and had put off coming she gave in and had come against her inner self and her own will. Professors wouldn't let her attend class until she sorted herself out. She hated this time of year and the fact that students were sniffling all around her. Usually it didn't affect her though and she never got sick, not this year though. She had aches and pains, feeling hot one minute and freezing the next and had a splitting headache that refused to go. She hated feeling weak and succumbing to the fact that she needed help. She guessed that the pressure of fifth year was finally getting to her and stress had weakened her immune system. Stupid, weak immune system she cursed herself.

Maya looked around seeing if anyone was about to help her. She was about to call out, but she guessed she had already announced her presence with all her coughing and sniffling. Hopefully she would be given some pepper up potion and that would be that.

Logan had his nose in deep paperwork as the whole school had decided to get sick at the same time, stopping him from doing the paperwork for a few days, and man, had it piled up. He was just about to finish another small stack when he heard some coughing and sniffling from the other side of his door. He felt his face grow compassionate. Those poor students.

He rose from his desk and walked out of his office. The girl in the infirmacy was a new face to Logan, but he could easily tell she had a high fever. "Hello," he said calmly, walking over to her, smiling in the slightest, "I'm Logan." He reached out a hand for her to take and then gestured to one of the beds. "Please sit down," he said, guessing she was exhausted.

"The fever hit you too?" he asked rhetorically as he put his hand on her forehead for five seconds before straightening up. "How long have you been feeling under the weather?" he asked, knowing she must've gone around a day in the least with this tormenting her. She was probably one of the people who hated being sick. Maybe she didn't like the infirmary, maybe she simply didn't like the fact that she got sick. Logan couldn't tell, and waited for her answers.

Maya looked up when she heard someone entering the room. Well too late to leave now, she told herself. Maybe just as well she was starting to feel a little faint. Maya's eyes fell on a kindly face, with smouldering eyes and a naturally rugged look which immediately made Maya wish she had come sooner or for all her other ailments and she smiled automatically at him. Just one look into those eyes and she'd be cured.

Then he smiled at her and Maya smiled automatically in return. Wait no, what was she doing? She was sick and returning pleasantries with the school nurse. This wasn't her, damn him and his deep brown eyes. Maya immediately forced her eyes away from his and cast them down towards the ground. That was better it felt like she could think again. She didn't need his condescending smiles just because he pitied her for being sick.

Since when did they have such a hot nurse? He never seemed that good looking to her at breakfast in the Great Hall. She presumed it was because she never gave him much attention. There was always better things to be doing in the Great Hall than staring at the professors table as they ate. Sometimes Maya found it uncomfortable so she avoided looking at it, but she just supposed that they were too busy conversing with one another to pay attention to whatever they were doing anyway.

No way the nurse even knew who she was. And that reminded her wasn't she here for something? Maybe she should say something back? Her sickness was making her mind work slower than normal, coupled with the lack of sleep due to coughing fits waking her up every five minutes.

"Hi, I'm Maya." She finally managed to mumble and she gratefully took the seat he offered her. Even though she hated showing weakness. "Ehm, well about a week." Maya hazarded a guess as she wrung her hand around her neck nervously, slightly abashed. Should she have come sooner?

"It must get lonely up here?" Maya asked out loud not really registering what she was saying as she looked about the empty room.

The Slytherin seemed to be debating something, seeming to try to find the right words to say. At first, Logan thought it might be the flu or something. Maybe it made her confused and unable to focus her thoughts into one direction. That was quite normal. But she finally told him that her name was Maya, and as she didn't give him a last name, he felt like it would be fine to call her Maya as well.

Logan raised an eyebrow. A week? From what Logan had learned from the other students who had come with this flu, it was that it completely drained them of energy and sleep. She was definitely a person who hated being sick, and who obviously tried to ignore it. "A week. And what is wrong with you?" he asked, "What symptoms do you have?"

Logan looked around the infirmary. "Lonely? Nah, people come up here all the time," he said with a chuckle, "Especially this time of the year. Everyone gets hit by the flu." But there were times when all he had to do all day was paperwork. And that was boring. But he often then took a stroll around the grounds and sometimes he brought with him his paperwork to Hogsmeade, getting one of the assistant healers to take his day at the infirmary.

"What about yourself? What's it like living in the Slytherin common room?" he asked curiously. He'd been a Ravenclaw during his years, and had never seen the inside of the Slytherin common room.
