A Brand New Friend (Jen and Aureliaaaaaaa)

Jennifer walked slowly along the stone bridge, clutching the little crumpled note and trying to make sense of things. Her hair was all over the place and there were giant bags under her usually sparkling blue eyes. She hadn't been able to sleep last night, rolling about in the bed, so she could fll asleep right there on the bridge at that very moment.

Leaning against the side of the large stone bridge, Jen looked out over the grounds wistfully. Who knew? She might be leaving tommorow. Going to her new home, wherever that would be. Probably a stupid muggle orphanage somewhere. The little girl found herself sinking to the floor. She crossed her legs and hid her head in her hands, flicking back her long loose hair as she did so. She wasn't going to cry. She wasn't going to cry. She wasn't going to cry.

Much. Tears flowed down her face and she just hoped tgat nobody would see her.

Aurelia wandered through the winding passages of Hogwarts' corridors, before finally finding an exit through a stone door concealed in the wall. Azure orbs quickly flickered around her surroundings, as she made sure that no one had noticed her, before she finally tiptoed out quietly. As soon as she stepped out into broad daylight, the gentle breeze of the wind that swept through the grounds of Hogwarts began to take effect, leaving the young girl with a strange sense of serenity and peace. While the move from the Muggle convent to the magical world of Hogwarts had certainly been difficult, Aurelia couldn't help but feel that she just might be able to adjust to life in the castle.

A small derisive sigh escaped from her lips, as she continued assessing her surroundings, her face devoid of any emotion. If only there was a way to make her feel less homesick (not that she'd ever had a proper family to begin with). What she needed to do was to befriend others and to interact with them, instead of pushing them away from her. Her first day or so had gone relatively well, what with the personalized tour that the caretaker had arranged. She'd been able to meet members of each of the four houses; they were all kind and polite to her, but still, a nagging voice at the back of her mind constantly made her ask herself whether she truly belonged here.

While the personalized tour had certainly been informative, Aurelia had longed for a little time to explore on her own. And now I have it. As she glanced around, she saw a structure in the distance that she hadn't noticed before--a Stone Bridge. The rays of sunshine that streamed down from the heavens above obstructed her vision, making it hard for her to see ahead of her. Squinting, she could barely make out the figure of a young girl, one who seemed to be about the same age as her, leaning against the side of the bridge. She seemed somewhat upset, though Aurelia had no idea why. While comfort may not have been her forte, she could certainly provide companionship. Her strides quickened, as she hastily approached the girl. It wasn't until she stood a few feet away from her, that she realized she had no idea what to say. "Are you alright?" murmured Aurelia, her vibrant, azure eyes filled with concern. She tried to keep her voice low and soothing, for she certainly didn't want to startle the girl with her sudden appearance.
