Family: Adam White began his career as a Norwegian dragonologist, spending his early years studying the rather common Norwegian Ridgeback. After a few years of learning about the beasts, Adam made the decision to move to the remote village of Middlemarch, New Zealand to work at the Middlemarch Highly Endangered Dragon Reserve. It was there that he met Lena, a barkeep at one of the wizarding bars in the area. They eventually married and had four children - Ana(28), Peter(24), Emmaline(23), and Colton (20).
History: Despite the general consensus on purebloods, not all pureblood wizarding families have huge estates and loads of money to spare. Some of them have small, unimpressive homes in tiny villages that don't even show up on the map and would rather work in moderately-paid professions like dragon studies rather than high-end, large-salary positions like politics and law. Colton White's family is one of these families. The White children grew up in a small cottage on the outskirts of Middlemarch, and certainly didn't know much of the finer things in life.
Colton, being the youngest of the family, lived primarily off of hand-me downs from his older brother and sisters, and hardly ever got anything new for himself. And while the Whites were always a close, tightknit family and Colton loved them, he had always dreamed of something bigger for himself than his brother's old tee-shirts and his sister's old wand. So when Colton started school like the rest of his siblings at the age of eleven, it was with the intention of someday becoming something grand, which his eldest sister had not yet managed, even though she'd already graduated.
Colton was a hardworking student from the beginning, certain that if he did well in school, he could go on to become an Auror, or a lawyer - anything that would earn him respect and a free ticket out of tiny Middlemarch and into the real world. What he hadn't expected, however, was to find that his true talent didn't lie in any of the subjects that he was being taught, but in flying! The moment Colton first mounted a broom, he knew that it was where he belonged. He excelled in his flying classes, and went on to become the Keeper for his Quidditch team in subsequent years.
Colton's quidditch talent quickly made him a sensation throughout the school, and as a result he was quite popular and had a great deal of friends. As the years passed, each of his siblings graduated. And with each graduation, nothing spectacular happened. Each one went on to work in some unextraordinary position - both Peter and Emmaline went on to work at the dragon sanctuary with their father, and Ana had long since been a low-key herbologist. And not one of them had gone any farther than the border of town. And each time one of his siblings trapped themselves in Middlemarch, Colton became more and more determined to not be doomed to the same fate.
While he had always had a love for Quidditch, and was aware that he was rather exceptionally talented, Colton still put a lot of effort into his schoolwork, and managed to keep himself toward the top of the class. It wasn't until scouts from the New Zealand National Quidditch Team, unofficially referred to as the Kiwis, turned up to watch a few of his matches that he actually began to consider the possibility of Quidditch as a profession. A prodigy, they'd called him. A huge compliment. At that point, for the remainder of his schooling, Colton threw everything that he had into Quidditch.
Before Colton had even finished school, the Kiwis had sent him an invitation to join try-outs. Despite all of the time and effort that he put into it, hoping and praying that it would pay off in the end, nothing could have prepared him for the shock of seeing his name on the official Kiwi roster. Shortly after his graduation, Colton moved to a wizarding community just outside the considerably larger city of Dunedin, New Zealand where the Kiwi's training field was located.
Colton was surprised to find that leaving Middlemarch was much harder than he'd originally imagined. He'd always dreamed of bigger and better things, but leaving Middlemarch also meant leaving behind his entire family. The Whites had always been supportive of Colton's dreams, and sent him off to begin the new chapter of his life with the knowledge that they would be at every match cheering him on. And in the end, he was never away from them for very long. His sisters dropped by often for dinners, his parents joined him for tea, his brother took him out for drinks here and there - in reality, when you could apparate, nowhere was very far away. But still, the place he and his family called home was no longer the same.
Just as Colton became well known throughout Hogwarts for his Quidditch prowess, it didn't take him long to be a nation-wide sensation. He found quickly that he was born for Quidditch, and quickly became known as the "Best Keeper New Zealand Has Ever Seen." Which wasn't saying much, because New Zealand was hardly the best quidditch team in the International Quidditch League. But even still, it wasn't long before Colton had offers coming from the larger, more prestigious Quidditch teams. And though he loved his team, he would be crazy not to take such an opportunity. And suddenly, he had to make the decision between several amazing teams.
In the end, Colton narrowed his choices down to Bulgaria, Brazil and Ireland, and eventually accepted an offer from the Irish National Quidditch Team, which came with a large sum of both money and fame. So, at the age of twenty, Colton uprooted once more, taking off for the British Isles and his new team and his new life. He'd started out wanting to get out of Middlemarch - but he never knew just how far he would make it.
Appearance: Colton is a tall, athletically built young man. He has slightly unruly sandy brown hair and gray eyes, and like his father, has a broad, sharp jawline and a long, straight nose.
Personality: Colton is, most importantly, a highly ambitious individual who is willing to push himself to whatever limits he must to achieve is goals, but not to the point of hurting others to get there. He is they type of person who always needs something to work toward, and is always looking for life's next big and exciting adventure. Colton is fiercely hardworking in concern to his profession, and takes his training very seriously. He's extremely proud of the name that he's made for himself, considering where he has come from, and would do nearly anything to keep it in good standing.
His family, to this day, is highly important to him. While life can get busy for a professional Quidditch player, Colton is sure to always make time for his family when he gets the chance to see them. Similarly, any friends that Colton had before he went professional are held in high standing in his opinion, and he tries his hardest to stay in touch. Now that he's moved to Ireland, he sees his Quidditch team more often than anyone else and has quickly come to regard them as family as well.
In concern to becoming a Quidditch Prodigy, Wizarding Celebrity and potential Teenage Hearthrob, Colton is still learning how to react. He is a confident, friendly, generally kind individual who likes to have a lot of friends, but has found the multitude of attention that he is receiving to be a bit overwhelming. While he is capable of getting along with most people, and has a strong sense of humor, he has trouble connecting to those around him since he has become so well known. Colton appreciates the value of true friends, and has found that true friends are hard to come by when one is famous. Because of this, Colton is a more closed individual to those around him than he would truly like to be, because he is uncertain of who truly likes him and who simply wants to spend time in the company of a celebrity. Occasionally, his exasperation with the stress of it all does show through in public, but in general Colton has a very tight grip on his self control.
He's come to be quite irritated by the press, though he is constantly professional during his interviews, as he understands that his career rides just as much on his appearance and attitude as it does his talent. But overall, Colton longs to meet people outside of his team who he can consider friends, as he is quite disturbed by solitude and doesn't enjoy spending time alone.
Colton is intellectual, despite his atheticism, though many who don't know him may be surprised to discover this. He finds a lot of joy in reading and music, and unbeknownst to all but his family, he is actually quite the accomplished pianist. He is friendly to everyone, but tends to be drawn to those who express an interest in intellectual things because he finds them to be the least shallow in concern to his fame.
