Family:

Rowan would say that her family is quiet large. Her town is rather small, and its a place where everyone knows each other and therefore it has no secrets. But she was born to Olivia Welsh, and Roshan Matthews. Olivia was a muggle who had traveled to Greenland to get away from her "messed up family" in London, and Roshan was a local farmer who dreamed of getting away from Greenland to go to London. It was in a tiny pub in the town that the two met and ended up talking all night.

As the years rolled on, Roshan's dream of moving away from Greenland changed, because of Olivia. He hated the cold land that it was, but Olivia had stolen his heart. Two years after they were married they had a beautiful baby girl whom they decided to name Rowan. From the time he had met Olivia, Roshan had never told Olivia his deepest darkest secret (that he was a halfblooded wizard). He had always wanted to tell her, but Olivia had left the abnormality of her family, and he was afraid that she would leave him and take Rowan with her leaving him alone in Nuuk.

It was when Rowan was two that a boating accident caused Olivia's death. Roshan's best friend was driving it, and the boat had caught on fire. His best friend had jumped off to safety, leaving Olivia locked below. Roshan was devastated. The one thing that was keeping him from leaving Nuuk had died, and all he had left was his beautiful baby girl that was just two years old. Roshan bolted to London after that, never stepping foot in Nuuk again.

Roshan's parents died when he was very young and he was raised by his Aunt, who passed away when he turned of age, so he was able to live on his own and not go into foster care. Roshan had no choice but to go to London. The one place that would keep his soul alive and not remind him of Olivia.

History:

Rowan never knew her mother. She died at a very young age, and her father refused to talk about her. Growing up, she was a very independent child. Her father grew to become very rich, and they lived in a gigantic house and Rowan was raised by a nanny whom she called "abuela". By the age of 8 Rowan could speak Spanish fluently thanks to Abuela, and she was starting her first french lessons thanks to a french tutor her father had hired for her.

Rowan knew she was different from a very young age. Not having a mother didn't help matters either. But Abuela always told her that she had a "special Ora" about her that she couldn't quiet put her finger on it. Rowan hated being different from everybody else. She knew she could do things that other kids couldn't even dream about doing. She liked controlling water. She wasn't great at it, as sometimes she made the glass explode, but every once in a while, she was able to lift one glob of water into the air by just willing it too.

It was then her father told her the truth. That she was magical just like him. Roshan was disappointed in this, because he was hoping that Rowan would turn out to be more like her mother than him. He didn't speak to her much after that. She got her letter to go to Hogwarts at the age of 11. She was sad to leave Abuela, but she knew that it was necessary if she wanted to fit in with everyone else.

She was sorted into Ravenclaw. She hated it. She hated her classmates, and didn't make any friends. She didn't like her teachers, she felt that they were all fake, and the lessons where stupid. She wasn't even sure why she was sorted in Ravenclaw. By Fifth year, she had come to term with who she was, and sadly, that person was exactly like her father, because she had absolutely no idea who her mother was, so she couldn't compare herself to her. Rowan wanted to become something that wasn't her father. So she decided upon become an Auror.It was the exact opposite of what she would choose. Her father was not pleased with her decision as it was in the Ministry and he opposed the Ministry.

Today, Rowan stands firm on her decision about joining the Ministry. And because of that, her relationship with her father is even more strained. And Rowan is even more alone than she was before.


Appearance:

Rowan likes a simple look. She grew up wearing muggle clothing, so she finds them more comfortable than wizarding robes, but she'll wear the wizarding robes only to work and any Ministry event that is required to wear the robes. She has a very oval shaped face, and a wide forehead. Her hair is brown with natural waves, and her eyes are a very pretty blue-green that match her mothers, but her father would never tell her that.

Personality:

From the outside, Rowan looks shy. But that's because no one has ever taken the time to get to know her. She is very artsy, loves to draw, it's the only way to get out her emotions that she's feeling towards everything going on in her life, as she doesn't like to talk about her feelings. But, if Rowan ever decided to let somebody in, they would see that she is very quirky, and has a great sense of humor. She loves telling jokes, but only to the people she deems worthy to be in her presence. She is a very closed in person, and doesn't like to talk about her feelings all that much as it makes her uncomfortable. If there's one thing Rowan has a soft spot for its animals and children. She knew one day that she would hope to help either of the species.



It had been an entire year since Rowan and her father had spoken to each other, and Rowan was completely okay with that. Sadly, it shouldn't have to be that way, but as their relationship was strained from the beginning, Rowan figured that that was just the way it had to be. Today, she wore a blue dress with flats, and a white hat. She was officially going to see him today. She sprayed on some Cinnamon scented perfume, and took a deep breath breathing in the delicious smell. It was her favorite and she didn't know why.

She was going to meet him at her favorite cafe in muggle London. A place she always went to draw when her day at Auror training hadn't gone too well. She took in the scenery as she walked. It was the beginning of February, the month where the weather could be either really nice and perfect, or really crappy and rainy and snowy. But today, for some reason, the weather was perfect. The sky was clear, the birds where chirping, and everybody was behaving in the city, not causing any trouble.

She saw her father sitting at the little cafe on the corner of the street. He looked the same as ever, only his beard was a tad greyer. She took a deep breath and walked a crossed the street, meeting him at the reserved table. He took one disapproving look at her. The face he made when he inhaled was almost to depressing to describe. He said, "You smell like your mother." That was the only thing that Rowan now knew about her. She looked at him in disbelief as he walked away, disappearing from view. Now she knew one thing. She loved cinnamon.
