A New Friend (Maddie)

Sarah decided to go hang out in the common room. She loved it there. Everyone was pretty nice and friendly. Notepad along with her, she smiled as she saw there was only a couple of people which was he way she liked it. She still was pretty shy for the most part and seemed to keep to herself. She wanted go branch out and meet new people, but she would always get nervous meeting them the first time. She went to sit on one of the comfy couches and started to draw the fireplace that was warm in front of her.

Maddie spent most of her time in the Common Room. It was fairly quiet and peaceful, so was a good place to read, or do homework, or just think. Today she needed to write a letter home, because her parents might be worried about her if she forgot. After she'd written it, she could go and post it in the Owlery before dinner started. It all needed to be planned because she liked food and wasn't going to miss dinner for anything.

When she walked into the room, Maddie went and sat down at a table, grabbing herself a pen and some paper from her bag. The wizard stuff just wasn't right for writing to her muggle family. It was easy to write the first bit of the letter. It just briefly described how she was doing well at Hogwarts and everything was completely fine. She asked how her parents were and about life at home.

It was when she moved on to address her brother that she found it difficult to write. Madeline had never been close with him and she didn't really have anything to say. Mainly because he didn't seem to particularly like her. For a moment, she stared into space, wondering if she should just cross out his name and leave that part out. But then she realised she hadn't been staring into space, she'd been staring at another girl, around her age, at the other side of the room. Blushing, she looked down back at her paper.

Sarah was still drawing, but felt someone look at her. She glanced up and saw a girl that was looking at her too. She smiled alittle as she noticed she was writing with a pen and pencil. She figured by that she must be a muggle-born. She took a deep breath and decided that she needed to make some friends. "Okay I can do this." She said to herself as she got up closing her notebook and went over to the girl. "Umm hello." She said to girl with alittle smile.
