| The VanDerbergs had been in Diagon Alley shopping that day, and Lyra managed to get most of her stuff, but then her and Lyn walked past... that place. And she didn't want to do it anymore. So she managed to convince Lyn to pick up the few things she had yet to buy, and her mother to let her leave Diagon Alley and get some room to breathe properly. They'd been to London enough times now that Lyra knew her way around. At least, she knew her way around this small area in busy central London. And that Hyde Park was just up the road from here. So she headed that way to the park, which she remembered from years ago as being beautiful and quiet and peaceful, which was exactly what she wanted right now. On the way she found a shop selling milkshakes, so she used the few pounds in English muggle money at the bottom of her purse to buy one before carrying on towards the huge park before her.
Seeing a park bench overlooking a huge lake where boats sailed along, happy families rowing along, with no problems, probably with no recently murdered family members. They were quite lucky. Feeling bitter, Lyra took a long sip of her strawberry milkshake and stared at the blue water, and the people, families and couples, walking by without a care in the world. While she sat here alone with nobody but her strawberry milkshake for company. Then someone sat next to her. And she inwardly sighed. She didn't want to talk to anyone right now. So she didn't look at whoever it was. | |
