Books are awesome (Derek)

Saryana was bored. It was finally her second year at Hogwarts! Yet things still were boring at the moment. There weren't much first years this year, as if most people in the world made kids for one year and suddenly there wasn't much people without kids and hardly anyone wanted to make them. Which meant that Saryana ' s plan to be nice to the first years was slightly ruined for now. Meaning that her step into becoming a prefect was fading and with the chance of turning into a head student! There also was the factor that she still remembered how most of the Hogwarts population seems to hate first years but that wasn't her main interest at he moment.

Because of everything, there was only one other chance for her to become prefect. To study very hard and outshine the rest. Which obviously meant one thing- to spend much time in the library. Not that she complained. She loved it there, being away from all the noisy Gryffindors. And the books where amazing! Although she was sometimes afraid not to hurt the books at Hogwarts, because they were so old. And although old books are awesome, it still was worrying. But as soon as the girl began to read page after page, she forgot about he rest. Oh, how awesome are books!

So her she was again, like every day. The librarian greeted her and even put in something about her coming every day. Saryana just smiled, greeted back and walked into the library. She wondered that if she studied hard enough they would move her up a class. It surely would be awesome! But she highly doubted they would allow something such. Shrugging slightly to herself, the girl took one book which seemed to be on Transfiguration and sat down on he nearest table.

Derek spent a lot of time in the library. Admittedly, not as much as he would have liked, but being a third-year and having a job, and a busy schedule, left less time for casually reading for pleasure than last year. He still came in here to do his homework almost every day, but his plan to read every book here before he left Hogwarts seemed to be becoming less and less realistic each year. Unfortunately. That had previously been his only goal, and if there was no way he could achieve it, then there was no way he could grow up to achieve loads of other goals, becoming Head Boy and then eventually British Minister for Magic, or at least something high up like that. So he may as well give up now.

That day, though, he noticed that he'd finished all of his homework, and didn't have work this afternoon. Which meant the only plausible thing to do was head to the library and try and get through loads of books in a quiet, peaceful reading environment. Perhaps he could get his life back on track after all. When he arrived, he went straight to the fiction section to pick two random books, one a muggle one and the other an interesting fictional story about a werewolf. He got them out, then turned to try and find somewhere to sit.

He rapidly came to the conclusion that there were no vacant tables, or comfortable armchairs, which meant he would have to share. This didn't matter to Derek - he liked people, and didn't mind sitting with someone else. As long as beyond small talk, they let him get on with the job at hand, reading a lot of books. The nearest table to him was occupied by a younger girl, surely not by too much, because she looked around his age. But he knew she wasn't in third-year with him. He went to take a seat there, smiling widely at her. "You don't mind if I sit here, do you?" Although by this point he was already making himself comfortable. "I'm Derek, nice to meet you."

Saryana has read about ten pages. That meant that she should be here for about ten minutes or so. The book she had taken seemed to be something about spells gone wrong - it was slightly funny and she smiled at it. A fun part was about a person who did the spell 'Accio' and water balloons dropped over everyone around him. She was just thinking of maybe searching for a book about prank spells (because that is what you do - go to the middle, wait, it wasn't even the middle of the book and go and grab another one. You have to love Saryana logic at times) when a boy came. He was blonde and seemed nice. The girl noticed the Ravenclaw tie on himself. He seemed to be about her age - maybe third year or so? Because he still wants too much over. How you can see the age difference bet people even just for one single year...

He began to ask to sit down. But he was already sitting. But the girl didn't mind that. She was going to agree anyways, so this simply saved some time. Plus this would be what the librarian wanted - to socialise. And where better to do that than in the awesome library? Smiling, the girl nodded. "Of course! " she said and watched him get comfortable. Who was he? Nowadays the girl had began to forget people around her. In her first year she knew, or at least saw, everyone at Hogwarts. Okay, not everyone but still a bunch of people! And he replied to her! Awesome! "I'm Saryana! Nice to meet you too, Derek! " she said with a smile.

The girl noticed from the background the librarian smiling down at them. Resisting the erge to roll her eyes at that or something from that type, she turned to him. "What are you reading? " she asked, as she still haven't read that book. It could be interesting, the cover looked such. But there was the saying 'Never judge a book by its cover'. Which was annoying at times. Though the book it that saying meant a person and the cover meant the looks... But Saryana took it differently. Because why not? She looked quickly to the book, after that back to the boy. She hoped the librarian won't annoy her after that with this meeting. Why did she want Saryana to talk with other people... Gah! That will not help her be a prefect for her fifth year! Sometimes she just didn't understand the lady...
