Sibling Time [closed]

For once, weekends were boring. Kynan usually enjoyed an excuse to do nothing, but doing nothing had become silly. Weekends were usually the times were Kynan slept, ate and went to Hogsmeade. But he soon realized that it's been ages since he had hung out with an actual friend or actually met someone. It's been ages since he had went down to the Quidditch Pitch for just a quick fly around the grounds. It was ages since he had last went downstairs to the kitchens just to say hi to Rosey. It was ages since there had been an actual party to go to at the school.

After ages of boredom, Kynan decided to owl Aylee. It was hard to catch her between lessons or at meals nowadays because she was always slipping into the crowd and being alone, and mostly  because he was quite lazy. So he took a long trip to the Owlery and searched for Aylee's owl, Julia. He was actually surprised that it wasn't dead yet, as the owl had been with them for years now. Kynan wrote a quick note and then set the owl off.

The next day, he went to the classroom in which they had decided on meeting. In the note, he had basically asked his sister to help him study for his O.W.L.s. It wasn't true, really, of course he wasn't going to study! He was Kynan Walters! He hoped that Aylee had realized that and didn't bring piles and piles of books and papers.  

As soon as he arrived to the old Care of Magical Creatures Classroom, in which Kynan had told Aylee to come to, he walked in. He looked around and found nobody. The classroom was deserted, like it was supposed to be. The Professor had stopped teaching ages ago, but sometimes students still used it for the study group. Kynan figured that if they were interrupted by a teacher, they could just use the 'study group' excuse and be left in peace.

Tired already, Kynan sat down in a random chair and waited for Aylee. He looked around, and then suddenly noticed the supplies closet door ajar. It was one of the places he had never explored inside a classroom, and then he suddenly felt curious as to what the teacher ever kept in there. Slowly, he stood up and crept towards it. When he reached it, he opened the door and poked his head in only to find out that someone was already there.

"Aylee?!" he exclaimed loudly, and his sister jumped around to face him. He recognized his sister... but not her hair. Somehow, Aylee had managed to turn her hair silky and black, and had been admiring in the mirror behind her until Kynan had found her.

It was very obvious that Kynan wasn't really going to study. Aylee had known him for fifteen years and knew that her brother would rather eat an octopus than study. Still, she wasn't going to say no, since she had no solid plans for the weekend. Read, that's all she ever did these days. Read, read, read. It wouldn't be a surprise if she actually forgot how to keep a conversation going, when she knew how to quote fictional ones by heart. When she didn't need to, Aylee sometimes never even left her bed. Where would she go, anyway? She had no friends. Kynan's note made her happier, though. It made her think that, at least, if Kynan was bored he would think of her.

The next day, Aylee didn't bother to bring any books. Instead, she left the Common Room early and went down to the Kitchens. She greeted Rosey, who she had grown quite fond of, and requested an apple pie. The house elves wrapped it in a foil, and charmed it to stay warm until it was unfoiled. She thanked them and stuffed the pie into her tiny handbag, which was charmed to stay big on the inside. It was one of those charms which Aylee had learned by just reading books.

"old CoMC" classrom wasn't so hard to find. Aylee had been going to it for the past years, so she now remembered the place like the back of her hand. She hadn't been really fond of the class, honestly, even though it was quite interesting. Learning about magical creatures was great, and so was seeing them, but Aylee had never seen herself going on with the subject. But as soon as she entered the classroom, she was hit with a pang of nostalgia, and was remembering her first lesson at Care of Magical Creatures.

She had been still young, and shy and quiet. The Professor had put them in teams for a treasure hunt. The lesson had been something about an underwater creature... Aylee couldn't remember it that well... she remembered other lessons they had had, though... there was one that involved unicorns, and another about dementors. Then there was the famous werewolf incident, but she always tried hard to forget that one. But it would be hard to forget all of her classes and lessons in Hogwarts. She would miss them, really, even if she had never taken interest in most of them.

Aylee walked over to the teacher's desk, and then turned to the desks. She wondered how it felt like to be a Professor. Would she have been a good Professor? Her graduation was in a few months, and she wasn't quite sure what she would be doing after that. Being a Professor had crossed her mind a few times, but with her siblings telling her that she had a boring personality... she tried to imagine the desks full of students, all of them with eyes trained on you, waiting for your professional-sounding words... She shook her head and covered her face with her hands. Nope, Professor was definitely not a good choice for her.

As she continued to wait for Kynan, Aylee sat on the Professor's desk, thinking about her future career. She had always thought about something in the Ministry, but where in it? At one point, she had made a whole list of available jobs there, and just crossed out the ones that she disliked. Pulling out the list out of her bag for the hundredth time that week, Aylee started to go over it again. The only ones that she hadn't crossed out were Obliviator, Welcome Witch, Normal Ministry Worker. Last year she had wanted to become an Investigator, but it had been crossed out of the list as well after much thought. Being a Welcome Witch didn't sound bad, but sometimes Aylee hugely disliked the fact that people took her for granted. It would be nice to be nice to others, but sometimes people were rude, too, and she didn't really want to cope with that. She crossed Welcome Witch off the list.

Where was Kynan? Aylee soon grew bored and then decided to explore. She had always seen a closed supplies closet in the room, but had never discovered what was hidden inside it. Maybe she could find a mystery! Well, it was highly unlikely, but she was still curious. She walked to it, opened it and went inside. She found a mirror, one of those big ones that showed you yourself from head to toe. It was dark in there, so Aylee took out her wand and cast a spell to illuminate the small closet. Then she looked at herself in the mirror. Brown wavy hair, blue eyes, average height, Ravenclaw robes, she looked like she always did.

Sometimes she wondered what would happen if she dyed her hair black. She'd known a few people who dyed their hair and looked really cool with it. Would she look cool if she dyed her hair? Would she look prettier if she put on make-up like Aoife did? Still holding her wand, Aylee recalled a spell she had known since her first year, one that her old best friend Sydney had taught her. It was one that enabled you to change your hair colour. "Colorus Changus," she murmured under her breath, pointing her wand at her hair. Her hair turned black. It was a weird colour for her, but Aylee actually kind of liked it. She used her wand again, and made it sleek and straight and shiny. She admired it in the mirror for a few minutes, contemplating on keeping it like that, until a voice behind her made her jump.

Kynan had finally arrived. Quickly, Aylee pointed to her hair behind her back and murmured a spell to put her hair like it was before. "Hi, Kynan," she said, face going red, and pushed past him to leave the closet. Then she turned back to her brother, with a fake grin on her face, "So did you bring your books and study materials?"
