| Jen liked her job. Everyday, she saw all the other options within the Ministry. Aurors risked their lives for no point. Co-operation talked to people in different countries. Education argued over what to teach Hogwarts students. Maintenance cleaned corridors. So really, a job in Mysteries was one of the best because not only was it superior to many others, but she got to know lots of cool secret stuff.
The only job she could get that was even better was Minister of Magic. But that could wait. She’d give Uncle Jeremy a little longer on his throne. But Jennifer didn’t really want the job anyway. Princess would be better. Of a small European country.
Anyway, her job was good. She was working in the Time Room at the moment, but the Death and Thought Chambers sounded more interesting. Unfortunately, she was still an assistant. Obviously she was talented enough to be a full Unspeakable but it didn’t work like that. Only three hundred and thirty days until she took a test and started properly. That was sad. And pathetic.
After she’d finished filling out a form of some sort, work was done for the day, so Jennifer took the lift back down to the Atrium. Now, a drink from the café, or no drink from the café? No, she deserved one. Then she could go home happily and look for an apartment on a muggle website. So far, she’d had no success but that was because they were all ugly and cheap-looking. Eventually she’d see one and fall in love with it, hopefully in London. That would be nice and convenient.
Jen always had coffee, so she went for a milkshake instead. Just for something different. It was chocolate with whipped cream and sprinkles. Sickly, but it was small, low-fat and she didn’t have to drink it all. Then she went to find a seat in her usual corner, where there were small, isolated and private booths which were generally pretty much empty at this time of day. | Shah was feeling quite ecstatic because she was at the Ministry of Magic. Finally. After a lot of pondering over what professor Lucia Henley did and didn't say at the career discussion thing in her 7th year, she'd decided to be an auror. Well, an assistant temporarily, but she'd need the practise and experience. And besides, she might just have a chance at catching whoever murdered her mum, if he/she were still alive. Hopefully, they weren't alive, because she didn't fully feel like she could indulge in taking someone's life, though, she had enough reason to.
She figured, since this was her first day, she'd begin with a bit of breakfast. Even though school was over and she was no longer a kid, she still ate a lot.
As she walked over to the cafe, she wondered what she'd be told to do. Obviously, they wouldn't just simply send her off to kill Dark Wizards. There would definitely be some sort of training. The determination just seemed to live inside her head: she would get over with the training, become an auror, go be all bad-ass and catch some assholes Dark Wizards and then become the head of the auror department and eventually the Minister for Magic.
It would all be grand, but it was way in the future. She shook her head. At the cafe, she found a girl whom she slightly remembered.
Jennifer Moss. The girl with whom the rumours about her and Wade were associated with. So, she'd joined the Ministry. Before Shah could actually make an acceptable decision, she walked over to her and said, "Jennifer Moss right?"

| Shah. The redheaded girl. Gryffindor. Wade Malfoy's ex. That was all Jen knew about her, other than that she now worked at the Ministry and she was coming over to talk to her. Unfortunately. She wasn't in the mood for a friendly chat.
Jennifer nodded when she said her name. She should ask in the same cool way, but she couldn't remember her surname. Not that she'd ever bothered to listen to it anyway. "Shah, right?" Just her first name didn't have quite the same effect, but it would do. She was cool enough to make it work.
"So you work here now?" she asked civilly. She couldn't imagine what Shah would do here, but then again she didn't know the girl. For all she knew, the redhead could be a super genius and almost Minister of Magic or something. Unlikely, though. She was most likely some sort of cleaner.
Jen wasn't entirely sure why Shah felt it necessary to come and talk to her. Just because they were in the same year at Hogwarts, it wasn't like they'd ever talked before or acknowledged each other at all.
Nonetheless, she had put her Hogwarts years behind her and now she was a mature and sensible adult. Jen wasn't an idiot; she could at least pretend to be nice for the sake of her "reputation". She took another sip of her milkshake.

| "Right." Shah nodded. She went over to the counter and bought two muffins and some orange juice. After three-seconds of speculation, she figured what the hell? She was probably going to be working with this girl from now on. It was better to be on good terms rather than building up a bitter relationship.
Not bothered about what Jen thought, Shah sat down with her and began eating her muffin. It was quite delicious; but she did miss the food at Hogwarts. The elves were amazing chefs and obviously, she loved them. Though she told nobody -- a little bit due to the lack of 'somebody' to tell -- she had sometimes sneaked down to the kitchens and let the food craze take over.
Shah stared at Jen when she asked. "Um, yeah. That's why I'm here." Be nice now, Zel. She put on a tiny smile and said, "What do you do?" Then added, "I meant what job here."

| A small smile crept onto her lips when Shah walked off. Much better. But unfortunately, she came back. Just to invite herself to sit down and start stuffing her face. It wasn't like Jen would have said she couldn't sit down if she'd asked, but she hadn't asked. Maybe Shah's idea of manners was a little different to most people's. She wouldn't judge the other girl for it. Much.
Jennifer resisted the urge to roll her eyes at the next comment. So maybe it was a stupid question on her part but it was just to make conversation, a gesture that should be appreciated.
"Unspeakable," she murmured in response. Although she never added assistant to the first part of her title, in this case it was fairly obvious, since she'd been to school with Shah. Jennifer wasn't entirely sure what she was doing with her life at the moment but she'd figure it out eventually. Maybe she'd find her prince, or be a horrible mother like Damien said. "You?"

| "That sounds like fun." She nodded at Jennifer's answer. "Auror." Shah replied. She finished one muffin and sipped some juice. "So, how long have you been here?" She moved on to the other muffin. She figured she was a little late for the job, and Shah hoped she didn't make the mistake of simply assuming that Jennifer was here longer than her.
Shah couldn't wait to get started. Even as an assistant, she expected the job to be exciting. Catching dark wizards sounded as cool as it could get. She just desperately hoped that she wouldn't be in a situation where she would have to catch Wade. That would just be ridiculously heart breaking.

| Fun? That wasn't quite the suitable word for the job as an Unspeakable assistant. Exciting, mysterious, secretive, perhaps. Not fun. It was jobs like Shah's that were like that. Involving a lot of running around, having fun playing at being superheroes like small children. Maybe Jennifer's job was fun, but in a completely different way. She gave a small shrug. Whatever floated her boat.
"A couple of weeks," she replied nonchalantly. It seemed as though Shah had started recently, or else had yet to do so. Or maybe she was usually just excitable. In a weird way, she reminded Jen of Aoife. An older, prettier version. That definitely wasn't a good thing. "What about you?"
