Rescue (Closed to Aoife, Kynan and Evan)

The white unicorn was drinking from a small stream in a clearing peacefully when he heard the rustle of leaves far behind him. The forest was filled with creatures unknown to him and he had yet to discover any of them, so he quickly ran away from the small clearing, terrified.

After a while, he came to a large oak tree. Exhausted, he stopped to take a break behind it, alert in case whatever it was caught up. Then he heard a snap, a twig breaking. This time it was a lot nearer to his hiding place. So he ran on gracefully. The unicorn knew he couldn't carry on for much longer, that soon he'd be dead, but it was worth a try anyway.

It was when he saw the edge of the forest he stopped. He couldn't move out to where the humans were. They'd kill him, drink his blood. But he'd die either way. Maybe it was because he felt dizzy from all the running that he stopped, stepped out of the forest into the bright sunshine.

Aoife was so much happier walking around the grounds than she was stuck inside a stuffy classroom or the Common Room, cosy as it could be. Even when she was alone, it was just a chance to think. To walk around and clear her head and think about ways she could kill no, severely injure Elddirs or Ry-thingy. She still needed to know his name so she could resent him properly.

It wasn't deliberate that she was near the Forbidden Forest. Aoife just hadn't been thinking properly and gone along a different route than she'd planned. But it was okay. She wasn't breaking the rules. It was a few feet away from the forest when she spotted a flash of white. It was only natural for her to run towards it.

"Mustachio," Aoife whispered, awestruck at the unicorn in front of her. That was his name now. Mustachio.

It was impossible that, after everything he'd heard about the Forbidden Forest, Kynan wouldn't want to explore. He'd been planning this little expedition for days now, just after his Care of Magical Creatures lesson. He wanted to meet a centaur again, because the creature had fascinated him so much that he wouldn't soon forget about it. So that day he left the castle and walked down towards the forest, feinting visiting Hagrid's Hut. He did visit the hut for a few minutes before he snuck out the back down and sprinted towards the forest. Slowly, he walked at the edge of it, sneaking glances into the trees, trying to decide if he should go inside or not.

After a while, Kynan got bored so he decided to go in there to explore. That was what he was about to do, though, until he head the faint sound of hooves and autumn leaves being cracked. Centaurs! His curiosity drove him to walk some more at the edge till he saw now a centaur, but a unicorn. And a tiny girl approaching the creature. That was strange. According to Aylee, unicorns weren't found easily. So how the heck did such a creature end up here? That couldn't be a coincidence, right? Kynan frowned.

"Kynan, come over here!" Aoife whispered, careful not to surprise or frighten Mustachio with a loud voice or sudden movement. "His name is Mustachio but I don't know why he's here. Shouldn't he be riding rainbows or something?" And she was pretty sure unicorns were rare in the wizarding world, not like on My Little Pony.

A whisper got his attention, and Kynan turned to Aoife who was talking to him. Slowly, he did as the girl asked and tried to tip-toe over to her as slowly as possible. When he got next to her, Aoife was asking him about why... Mustachio wasn't riding rainbows? "Er..." Kynan whispered, racking his brains to find anything that he could remember about unicorns. "I don't know," he admitted, looking defeated. "I thought that unicorns weren't found easily... unless it was a Care of Magical Creatures lesson."

During last CoMC lesson in the forbidden forest Evan left there his notebook, he probably just dropped it at some point and forgot to check because he was too excited. And now he had to find it before the first rain, as paper was very vulnerable to water. Not that there was something important in it or it was very important by itself, Evan just didn't want anything to be wasted because of lack of vigilance.

So Evan headed to the forbidden forest. After his CoMC lesson he wasn't afraid to go there, because that trip seemed to be pretty safe. He also doubted that anyone could catch him breaking rules because teachers tended to be in the castle.

Coming nearer the the forest, Evan noticed two students. Maybe the CoMC route was the only one known to students, these two went there for some reason, found his notebook, and just came back? Not likely, but it worth a try anyway. "Guys! Hey! Haven't you seen a notebook somewhere in the forest?" Evan shouted. There was no teachers somewhere near and those students didn't look like prefects, so shouting about rule breaking couldn't do any harm.

Mustachio's eyes opened wide in terror when a small human lady approached him, but his legs were about to buckle under so he froze. Hopefully it would be a fairly quick, painless death. But she stopped before him, staring. What was so odd? Did he have two heads or something? Perhaps it was his developing mustache.

Then another human came along and the unicorn was just terrified. He heard "rainbow" in the conversation somewhere. Mustachio had heard myths of such things and his species having some involvement with them, whatever these creatures or things were. He was slowly beginning to warm to the humans, starting to doubt they were going to hurt him. But no, that was ridiculous. They were humans, no matter how small. The redhead looked a bit dodgy in particular.

It was when the third came that he decided to run while he still could. But he felt a sharp pain in his leg. Upon looking down at it, he saw the steady stream of blood falling. Mustachio couldn't run now - he felt like he would die any moment even without these humans. And it would be stupid to go back into the forest where that monster awaited. He whimpered slightly as he fell down, lying on the floor in a heap.

Before Aoife had the chance to reply, Evan's familiar voice was there. Kynan glared at the nearby figure with a look that clearly meant shut up! but Evan was probably too far to see his face. "Shut up!" Kynan exclaimed loudly, his voice sounding really rude. The guy's actions made him dislike him even more than the last time. He beckoned towards Evan for the boy to come nearer but tried to show the guy not to make a sound.

Suddenly, he heard the sound of twigs snapping and then the unicorn fell down. Without thinking, Kynan ran towards the unicorn to try to see what was wrong. At the sight of the creature's injured leg, he bit his lip and looked at Aoife. "He's really injured! Don't look, it's bleeding badly..." His sister Aylee grew faint at such an injury and he didn't want Aoife to do the same. "Should we get Professor Vega?"

Evan heard the answer to his question. Firstly, it was rude. Secondly, it was Kynan's voice. Evan found both these things very annoying. Why on Earth should I do as my not so intelligent year mate asks? Nevertheless, Evan proceeded quickly and with the least amount of noise he could make. Who knows, maybe it was so obviously important that even Kynan realized the importance of this situation.

As Evan came nearer, he recognized the second student as his friend Aoife. What could brought these two together? It seems like they stand on different steps of evolutionary ladder. Like, three steps away. Or four. Kynan said something about Professor Vega. And then Evan noticed a lying unicorn. Unicorn! And it was probably injured. "What have you done to this creature?" Evan asked the Griffindor boy and clutched his sleeve. "And don't even try to drag Aoife into it!"

Before he knew it, Evan was grabbing Kynan by his sleeve and accusing him of hurting the unicorn. "That wasn't me, you git!" he exclaimed, glaring at Evan and then attempting to pull away his sleeve. He was much stronger than Evan, he could bet, especially since he played a Beater for his house's Quidditch Team. "I was looking for a centaur when I bumped into Aoife and we found this unicorn! Then you and your stupid notebook came along and this creature fainted, it was not my fault!" He tried pushing Evan away.

THEN MUSTACHIO FAINTED! OH NO! WHAT COULD THEY DO? PROFESSOR VEGA? THAT WAS A GOOD IDEA, KYNAN.

Aoife didn't mind blood and gore and stuff - she'd seen a cow give birth which was sort of disgusting but it meant she was prepared for a lot. But she was worried for Mustachio, since she'd never taken a unicorn first aid course. Sheep and unicorns were very different.

The girl was about to say yes about bringing him to Professor Vega when EVAN turned up and grabbed Kynan's sleeve. "EVAN STOP PLAYING AROUND WITH KYNAN. THERE IS AN ALMOST DEAD UNICORN IN FRONT OF YOU!" Seriously, he needed to grow up and be as mature as Aoife in this sort of situation.

Mustachio felt dizzy and woozy as he lay on the floor. Was this unicorn heaven? There were some trees...and some humans. No, he was still alive. He winced as the small female human shouted loudly. Have some consideration for the almost dead unicorn, please, he thought to himself. His leg was still bleeding quite badly...and he was feeling okay, but the sight of it made him feel like unicorn pie.

Aoife yelled out, and Kynan turned around. "WE NEED TO GET PROFESSOR VEGA!" he yelled back, regretting it instantly because his voice sounded really loud. Then he looked at the unicorn. "Should I go get her? I'm a good runner, I'll be back in ten minutes max."

Evan wanted to retort like "Hey! I saw the injured creature and a probably unstable person like you around, what else could I think? And don't touch me!", but Aoife shouted at him, so he kept silence.

Kynan suggested to get Professor Vega and volunteered to run to the castle. That was probably the best thing to do. Maybe this guy isn't that bad. Most likely it's good Aoife's influence. Evan didn't say anything, leaving the decision to Aoife. Actually, decision would be Aoife's in any case, he just didn't want to be shouted at again. What if the girl had a ten times better plan and supporting Kynan's idea was super silly compared to it? And the thing that Evan feared the most now was looking silly. And be shouted at by Aoife.

Good, Evan hadn't said anything. So she could think and answer Kynan. "Yeah, do that," Aoife nodded. "But be quicker than ten minutes. And Evan, do you know anything about unicorn first aid?" It was worth a try. He might have done a bit on 'what to do when you find an almost dead unicorn' in COMC. Yeah, probably.

Aoifee's question made Evan think for a while. "Um. I dunno. I can conjure bandages, if it helps," he mumbled. "Blood loss is bad for any living creature, you know." Evan tried not to look at the unicorn, looking at Aoife instead. He couldn't keep calm when he saw some king of injuries. The more blood the worse. Evan wasn't sure how much there was, and he didn't dare to know.

"Okay," Kynan nodded at Aoife, glared at Evan, and glanced at the unicorn before turning around and sprinting off. He ran as fast as his legs could carry him, so fast that he almost felt like he was flying. But those few seconds were almost over because soon enough he was entering the castle, and then disappeared into it.

Aoife watched nervously and waved as Kynan ran off. He needed to run faster. Much faster. THERE WAS A UNICORN DYING RIGHT THERE. Stupid boy. No appreciation for this poor creature. "Hurry up!" As for Evan, well...ugh.

Seeing her dinosaur looked a little icky, she decided to change the subject. "Never mind about the bandages, just look at me!" Aoife nodded seriously. SeriousAoife. "Beautiful me! Hey, it's a nice day, isn't it? Did you do something to your hair? It looks great! Which one was your favourite doctor? Mine was Christopher Eccleston! He was great! Not as good as I'd be, though!" Fail. But an epic fail.

Every couple of seconds, Aoife would glance nervously at Mustachio. There was nothing she could do, since magic was so hard, but she could check and make sure he was still alive, at least.

Evan didn't think about bandages anymore. A distant and faint Aoife's voice told him not to mind it. Evan's head suddenly became heavy, but he pulled himself together and looked at the girl. "Okay. No bandages. I'm looking at you.. You're beautiful... This day is nice...." Evan mumbled quietly, not really thinking about what he was saying. "Oh, thanks. Yeah, you would do great.. You'd definitely be the best Doctor..." He followed Aoife's glance and looked straight as Mustachio. That was a mistake. The sight of silvery blood made Evan faint.

All cool characters had their weaknesses. It's kryptonite for Superman, water for the Wicked Witch, and, apparently, a sight of blood for Evan. It was actually more tension than blood that was the reason of his collapse.

If Evan hadn't been unconscious, he would have probably felt really sorry for the inconveniences he made for Aoife. Now she had two nearly immobile creatures that needed help. In Evan's case, however, she could try to do something. If only she had some smelling stuff with her that could arouse consciousness.

On the other hand, Evan wasn't actually a loss. He was pretty useless in helping Mustachio anyway.

Ha! Evan had agreed she was beautiful and would be the best doctor! True, he was obviously not thinking about what he was saying and probably wasn't properly concious, but it still counted for her!

Aoife was about to say something back again when he looked at Mustachio and fainted. Now what was she supposed to do? "Thanks a bunch, Evan," she muttered quietly. Now there were two fainted-y things that needed help. And she was currently the only one there to deal with the situation.

How were you meant to wake people up when they'd fainted again? Some sort of bad smelling thing, she was pretty sure. But she didn't have any of them. So Aoife just loudly clapped her hands in front of Evan's face. "WAKE UP, YOU DINOSAUR!"

When Evan opened his eyes, he saw a sky for some reason. Huh? He didn't remember what happened and he was quite confused. He looked around as much as he could look laying on the ground. The first important detail he noticed was Aoife. Evan's memory was slowly coming back, but he decided to ask Apife to speed up the recalling process. "Aoife? Wh-what's happened?"

Evan's first idea was that Aoife accidentally attacked him and knocked him out. He decided not to tell this aloud and gather a little more information. Accusing people always resulted in something bad for Evan. Moreover, if her attack wasn't accidental, telling his guesses would be the worst move. No, she couldn't do it on purpose. She's so nice. The next moment Evan was stroke by a realization. Or she's a really good actress. She obviously was too nice to me. Why haven't I paid attention before? She likes the things I like, she does things I approve. She even talks in the manner I tolerate. She's just reading me like a book to manipulate me. And what a fool am I if I fell for it so easily? Evan tried to get the wand from his pocket, but there was no wand there. It could fell out.. or she could steal it from him! Knocked him out and stole his wand!

HE DIDN'T KNOW WHAT HAD HAPPENED? Dinosaurs really could be thick. But being the person she was, Aoife had to sigh dramatically and tell the story in her strongest, most stereotypical Irish person accent. So she sighed dramatically. "Not so funny story actually, m' dear," she shook her head, sounding a lot like her great aunt May. "We found a magical unicorn named Mustachio. I was all like, 'top of t' morning to ya!' He started bleeding. Kynan ran for help. You looked icky. You looked at the blood. You fainted all DramaticEvan like. And I clapped my hands in front of your face and you woke up and asked me what happened. Don't look at Mustachio, though, in case you faint again." He could be concussed and not remember anything at all, so it was vital she included every detail of the past events.

It was slightly alarming when Evan reached into his pocket. Did he have a magical healing stone he could use on himself and Mustachio? No. Oh, maybe he was looking for his wand! "Are you looking for your wand, Evan? Because if you are, it's on the floor next to you." Aoife smirked, raising an eyebrow. Stupid bot.

Mustachio briefly remembered a flash of a human on the floor next to him. Then there was a vision of Maria, the love of his life, who was no longer with him. Next was just a black hole. Was he dead? Maybe. No, he could see bright red hair. A small human. He was still alive.

Evan listened to Aoife closely. It all made sense now. But it could still be a good legend from the cleaver actress. Yeah, yeah. You can say anything to me while I'm unarmed, because you're still in control no matter whether I believe you or not. Nice legend, by the way. Then Aoife pointed at his wand, that had probably just fallen out of his pocket. Oh. How could I doubt Aoife? She's a sheep and a time lord and she gives free hugs! What a paranoid person I am! The only suspicious thing in girl's story some shady Mustachio character. "Who's Mustachio?" Evan asked. For some reason he thought that this Mustachio person was Mexican. And this guy probably had some gorgeous mustaches.

WHO WAS MUSTACHIO? Concussion, definitely. "Mustachio is a unicorn. He's lying half-dead on the floor next to you. Don't look at him. I need your help, so try to stay conscious, at least." Still a stupid boy, however concussed he may have been. Aoife held out her hand to help him up from the floor. He seemed suspicious though, so he might not take it.
