Lesson One

"Professor," a student began while raising her hand, "you said an instrument channeled power. Does that instrument have to be a wand? Have wizards and witches used other things besides wands in the past?"

"When conducting an experiment, one has to try a lot of things that has failure on them. Instruments, as I have said, has a lot of things to talk about but since they are just beginning to control magic, some of them didn't really resulted nicely. The best instrument that they had discovered is the wand," Ashton answered.

"Any further questions?" he inquired. Ashton waited for while but everything seems to be clear for his students at that point. "That last lecture took longer than I expected. The bell will wing at any moment so please, fix your things. We are about to have our dismissal." Everyone put their things inside their bags and fixed their tables. Ashton waved his wand without any incantation. Suddenly, his stuff disappeared and was transported into his room.

Finally, the bell did its job, signalling the end of the lesson. "You are all dismissed. Goodbye everyone." Ashton watched as his students leave the room, buzzing about the lesson they just had.

Aurora wrote the answer to her question in her notebook. Satisfied with the lesson, she felt she had learned a lot. She stored her things in her bag and was one of the first out of the door. She was glad that she had earned a few points for her house, and thought she might be stepping out from under her dad's shadow. She headed for Ravenclaw Tower, thinking that she might find information on Rowena Ravenclaw in the private library.
