The Badger's Den

Illy was not tired at all, not physically speaking at least. She wanted to get her head out from homeworks. She had been studying in the library, then her room, the entire afternoon. She needed a big break. For this reason, she decided she would go downstairs to the common room and just rest in front of the fire, staring at the flames as they would dance around. Illy loved doing that. Just reflecting on her life, taking time to think about what she had done during the day, were free-times she enjoyed an awful lot. Even though Illy loved company, during those times she wanted to be alone, on her own.

Because of that, she was surprised meeting somebody at this late hour in the common room. The student seemed to have been awaken as Illy passed-by him to sat on the floor right in front of the hot fire. She had just nodded her head while passing-by. She was about to start a conversation when she saw he was actually sleeping. Shutting her mouth, she installed herself on the carpet, and started staring at the fire. Yes. She wore her pajama, which did not make her uncomfortable knowing the boy was asleep. She did think she would not have met anybody.

Thinking about home, she remembered the great night she spent outside, just starring at the stars. In this cold british weather she could not see any stars, or very few times. She missed Australian's nights, she missed home, she missed her parents. She started singing a aborigine song with a low voice of course. She did not want to wake the boy. At the same time, she felt she needed more and more company...
