The Start of Something Great...

It was Saturday, August 5, and it was Ellie Fontayne's eleventh birthday! She was so excited. Her best friend, Wade Malfoy, had spent the night and today they were going out for breakfast, lunch and then a trip to the Eiffel Tower. In all their years of living in France, neither one had been to see the Eiffel Tower.

This was going to be so exciting. Wade and Ellie had been best friends ever since they were 2. At the young age of 2, Wade had moved in with his grandparents,who lived next to Ellie, because his parents had been killed by death-eaters for not following in the Malfoy traditions.

Both Wade and Ellie were pure-blood wizards. They also both come from a line of Slytherins and they didn't want to think about what would happen if they broke that tradition. Wade had gotten his Hogwarts acceptance letter back in June and now Ellie waited anxiously hoping to get hers soon.

Back in June, right after Wade had gotten his letter, they bumped into a new face around the town. His name was Marik and after talking for a while they found out that he was a second year Slytherin and he too, was pure-blood. Ever since that day, whenever you thought of Ellie and Wade, you thought of Ellie, Wade and Marik. They were inseparable unless it's a day like today, in which case it's only Ellie and Wade.

It was a dark and very stormy night. Wade was spending the night with Ellie again since he was the only one who could keep her calm during storms. It had been two weeks and still no letter. Just then there was a loud THUMP! at the door. Wade being the brave young man he was, went and opened the door. It was only an owl, and in his mouth was a letter with Ellie's name on it. The owl got up flew inside, dropped the letter in Ellie's lap then retreated just as fast out the door.

Ellie screamed, excited about her letter. Now, she and Wade could go shopping at Diagon Alley together tomorrow since tomorrow is actually when the train departs. Her mother came rushing down the stairs and saw the letter in Ellie's hand. She swooped her into her arms and kissed her head, "I'm so proud of you." Ellie smiled, she loved to make her momma proud, it's the greatest feeling ever. "momma, the Hogwarts Express leaves tomorrow. I won't get to see Poppa before I leave." Ellie's eyes became sad. "It's okay..." Wade whispered and rubbed her back, trying to be her comforter. "Mrs. Fontayne replied," Ellie, Poppa can stop by Hogwarts whenever he wants. Now you and Wade go get ready for bed. You both have a long day tomorrow. I'll be up first thing in the morning to take the both of you shopping."

Ellie, a petite brunette with green eyes, looked at her ticket once again and then looked to Wade,an athletic blonde with blue-grey eyes, "You sure this is right?" Wade looked kind of puzzled himself but confidently replied," Absolutely. If we run through that wall right there then we should end up on Platform 9 3/4." "Wade! Are you crazy? We can't just run through a solid brick wall!" Ellie shrieked.Marik walked up and told them both, "Hi Ellie and Wade. Did I hear you say you can't go through that wall? You're wizards, aren't you?I'll wait for you guys on the other side." As soon as he said that, he took his cart and ran towards the wall, disappearing. Wade smirked as he grabbed his cart and ran full speed before disappearing, leaving Ellie standing there completely shocked.

Finally after having an internal argument with herself she decided to run through the barricade. She felt inner peace with passing through the wall. It almost felt like running silk sheets, it was so....peaceful. When she got through the barricade the tall handsome young Marik came up and to her,"Told you, you could do it. Let's go find Wade." They found Wade already on the train in an empty compartment. "I'll go make sure all of our stuff is on the train," Marik smiled towards Ellie then strolled off. "Such a nice guy," Ellie giggled. "Wade," she approached him and gave him a bear hug," I got so scared when it was my turn to run through the platform, but I made it, she smiled. Wade smiled back at her and gave her another hug, "I'm glad you're okay. I can't have my best friend scared or hurt now can I?"

Marik returned and stated, "Our belongings are safely loaded. Now how about we rest?" Great idea! Ellie thought leaning against Wade and falling asleep. She began to fall into a deep sleep and began to dream at once.

She was running by the lake at Hogwarts when somehow the ground gave out below her. She was able to grab a hold of the ground but she was quickly slipping into the whole that looked almost bottomless. She cried and shrieked and desperately tried to scramble out with no luck. Marik came running towards her and was able to pull her out. He was followed by Wade who also began running and helping. Once they pulled her out, Wade was pushed to the side by Marik who now held Ellie and allowed her to cry on his shoulder whispering, "It's okay. You're fine now." Wade was hurt and grabbed Ellie's arm,"Why don't we go back to the common room and talk it out there?" Ellie reluctantly followed leaving Marik standing there with arms open, waiting...

Ellie's eyes flew awake and it was a while before she realize she was crying. "What happened?" Wade and Marik asked at the same time. Ellie could do nothing but stare at them both and bring her knees to her chest.
