| Mordred had found himself having to take the trip to Diagon Alley to buy a couple of new telescopes and scales, and also some ingredients for some high-risk, explosive potions. Taking the trip to Diagon Alley was not something Mordred enjoyed. Even when Hogwarts had begun, the shops of the street overflowed with people. Wanting to be done with the shopping as soon as at all possible, Mordred first entered the apothecary and walked on to Wiseacre's Wizarding Equipment to buy the necessary scales and telescopes.
Finishing up, Mordred walked towards the Leaky Cauldron, wanting to get out of the busy street. Upon entering the pub/inn, Mordred wasn't at all surprised to see that there were a ton of people there as well. However, he was surprised that it was so quiet and calm. In the spur of the moment, he decided to have a cup of coffee before going back to the ministry. This way, he could simply return to his office and avoid the business that was the Ministry Munchies.
Mordred sat down at a table not too far from the entrace, so that nothing would be blocking his way from leaving. He looked around at the couples and families and singles sitting around. The kids were the only ones making any loud noise, and Mordred found that it was much calmer than he would ever expect of the inn. His eyes then landed on the man sitting on the table next to him, and he instantly wished they hadn't. The man instantly registered to Mordred as a talkative person, and he'd probably only been looking for a second of an acknowledgement before he'd start talking. To Mordred.

| Ah, ze Leaky Cauldron! Andre thought to himself as he stepped through the doors. He had almost forgotten how wonderful the place was! The moment he entered, his eyes traveled to the fascinating structure of the stairway. It was quite phenomenal, the way they'd worked with the wood to form the beams and posts and walls and just about everything else in the entire place. A whole room made of wood! It was magnifique! Andre had only come here because he needed to pick up some supplies before the fast-approaching school year. And of course, to try the latest and greatest flavors of ice cream at the Diagon Alley branch of Florean Fortescues! He'd heard that they'd gotten an aluminum flavor in, which he was absolutely dying to try if the rumors were true!
But Andre just couldn't pass up stopping in this marvelous wooden room for a drink before he continued on his way! So, beaming happily, he stepped up to the counter and swept off his beret in greeting to the barkeep. "'ello, Monsieur! I do 'ope zat you are 'aving a wonderful day so far! I was wondering if, per'aps, you carried any Tisane?" When the barkeep looked at Andre like he was a maple leaf growing from an apple tree, Andre went on to explain. "Ah, zis is what we call a tea of 'erbs in France!" he said, bouncing on the balls of his feet as he spoke. "Per'aps you 'ave a verbena, or a sage?" The man didn't seem very optimistic that they had what Andre was looking for, and in the end he left the counter with a nice black coffee. "Yes, not everyone carries tea, zis I understand. Zis will do just fine, zank you very much Monsieur!" Andre called as he walked away from the gentleman behind the bar.
It was quite sad that they didn't have any tea, but Andre felt much worse for those people who weren't used to drinking a nice sage Tisane on a regular basis. It was quite calming! Sitting down at a table, which he'd managed to find amongst the crowd, Andre sipped at his coffee and almost ended up spilling it because it was much too hot. Ah, I must wait to drink zis! That was okay. Because there was so much to look at in this place! Andre looked around happily, deciphering instantly what kind of wood the place was made out of. As he gazed around, he just happened to meet the eyes of the man sitting at the table next to him. And of course, after such an intimate interaction as that, Andre couldn't simply ignore the man! Such a thing would be rude!
Instead, Andre smiled happily at him and tipped his beret. "Good afternoon to you, Monsieur!" he squeaked happily. "I 'ope zat your day 'as been well!" Then, happy to have someone to talk to, Andre continued on. "Monsieur, isn't zis building quite amazing! It is quite interestingly built. Ze wood zat zey 'ave used is oak, for ze most part! A very strong, sturdy wood, don't you zink?" Ah, this was wonderful! He had unexpectedly ended up with a wonderful coffee when he'd planned on having tea, and he'd happened across a lovely individual to chat with while he enjoyed it!

| Just as Mordred had predicted, the man started talking to him. Mordred stared straight ahead to keep his annoyance at bay, though his blank face probably did nothing to make the man think Mordred was at all interested in what he had to say. There were three things that Mordred did pick up on the moment the man talked. One; he was either Belgian or French. Two; he was one of the very friendly people roaming this city, which also made him one of the very many ignorant ones. And three; he had a strange obsession with all things wood. What also struck Mordred was that the man obviously thought he was lucky to have found a nice spot to sit. If anyone who knew Mordred had been a bystander at this point, they would probably feel a strong sense of sympathy for the man in the beret.
Mordred finally looked away from the invisible point in the air and looked to the man. The smile he had on his face was quite unbelieveable. Mordred quickly made the decision that this man was the exact opposite of himself. Talkative, friendly, smiling... And ignorant. Mordred might be a lot of things negative, but ignorant was on this opposite one. At least Mordred's qualities weren't negative to his own well being. Just to the ones around him. Mordred looked at him dead-on at his question. Did Mordred think the wood was sturdy? Probably. Did he care? No. Mordred was sorely tempted to just up and leave, but he had not finished his coffee yet. Besides, there was a few things Mordred enjoyed, and that was learning how people's minds worked. And this man was very interested in wood. Why? Mordred had never met a person like that, and any new brainpatterns was something Mordred would not say no to.
"Wood?" he said, his voice a rumbling, deep tone. He looked away from the man, and turned to the table he was seated by, pretending to be studying it. He gently tapped it with his knuckles and let his fingers trail over it. "Well it seems like a very solid and fine specimen." Though he was speaking words of interest, his tone showed no sign of interest. But the beret-man would have to figure out of whether to say more himself. Mordred would not find it a loss to have the man turn away and get to drink his coffee in peace, but he also would not be beyond annoyed if the man continued talking either, as he was now in his research mode and anything the man said, however stupid or ignorant, Mordred would now decipher into how a lesser mind worked. "I'm going to take a guess that you are highly interested in wood?" Mordred gave him a disinterested look this time, but still encouraging him to tell Mordred why.
