Distractions (for Lyn)

Seren usually studied in the confines of her common room because there were less people to bother her there. But in order to finish her assignment, Seren needed to get a book from the library. So she decided to simply take her things with her and study there for a change. Seren didn't mind studying in public as much anymore because she had more friends now than she did before. There was always the chance that Seren may run into Blake or Hunter if she ventured out of her bedroom. Well that wasn't entirely true. Hunter would NEVER be seen in the library. But Blake was SMART UNLIKE HUNTER and used it often.

Still, Seren didn't prefer to sit in the front of the library at the big tables because they were FULL of people. And most of the people there didn't DESERVE to be GRACED BY HER PRESENCE. So Seren went to skim the bookshelves for the book she needed and then took a seat on one of the fluffy sofas along the wall. Perhaps nobody unimportant would pester her if she sat there. Seren opened her Defense Against the Dark Arts book to begin her homework. The assignment was due the next day, and Seren sighed as she began it.

It wasn't like Seren to leave her schoolwork until the day before but there was a LOT going on at the moment to distract her. Number one on that list was Hunter VanDerberg. Ever since that day in Hogsmeade when he'd kissed her, Seren had been spending a lot of time thinking about him. And spending a lot of time with him. And so far she'd discovered that while he was most certainly an arrogant git a lot of the time, he was also a very decent person in the long run. It was very frustrating because Seren wasn't sure what Hunter thought of her. He seemed to be acting more like himself each day, and he spent more time with her than usual, but he hadn't tried to kiss her again. So Seren didn't know what to make of it. But right now, it didn't matter. She had to get a one hundred percent on this assignment!

Although Lyn thought that school was awesome, and magic was awesome, and classes were awesome, she could never think of homework as awesome. Loads of students, mostly Ravenclaws and Hufflepuffs and Slytherins and Gryffindors... well, loads of students were usually excited at the idea of homework and having to look up stuff to learn about magic and whatever. Lyn despised it. Especially when it was the kind of homework where you had no information on in your class notes or anything. Those were the times were you had to go up to the library.

That was what had happened to her that one sad sad day. Lyn's Divination homework had confused her and she couldn't find any explanations on her school textbooks. She quickly slammed her books, grabbed her necessities and left the Common Room. Situations like such irritated her, mostly because she had no idea how to research from libraries. But she couldn't make up the I-got-lost-on-my-way-to-the-library excuse because she knew well enough where the place was. In fact, she arrived in five minutes. When she did, she quickly headed for the shelves to look for books on Divination.

As Lyn was looking around, she spotted that one bookshelf full of Divination textbooks and quickly headed over towards it. It was on one of those corners by the window seats. She found one interesting title and attempted to pull it out, but the job required two hands and she only had one free hand. So, naturally, all of her books fell down with a loud bang. A lot of nearby students turned to her and glared, and Lyn just gave them apologising looks. She quickly dropped down to pick everything up.
