| Daniel Nott - First Year Hunter VanDerberg - First Year
Time: Fall, 2026
Daniel had always liked The Adventures of Martin Miggs, The Mad Muggle series, so he was delighted to find they had them in the Hogwarts library. His neighbor had "borrowed" his set and then claimed to never having seen them before. Lying git. He hated that boy so much. But the point was, he'd come up to the library in search of something interesting to read and found them and he was really happy about finding some of his favourite books. So he got out the first one and took a seat in a comfortable armchair in the library. Before long, he was halfway through the first book. He liked reading and was quite clever, but definitely more suited to Slytherin than Ravenclaw. The reason he liked Martin Miggs was that they gave him ideas. For plans. To use. To do. To have fun. It really made perfect sense. This thread is closed to Hunter VanDeberg |

| Finally, Hunter had some time off from his classes! Only he didn't... because he had to go to the library. Hunter hated the library. He hated books. He hated studying. And normally he wouldn't bother, but he had to. He had to finish his charms homework, and he knew for a fact that he wouldn't do it if he stayed in the common room. There were too many distractions. So he escaped the Gryffindor common room and made his way down to the lower levels where the library was located.
He let himself inside and was almost overwhelmed with the boringness of it! It was quiet and almost painfully unexciting. With a defeated sigh, he tucked his charms book under one arm and made his way inside. He figured he'd take that table at the back. As he crossed the room, he passed a boy in one of the comfortable armchairs reading a book. Boring. Wait! No, he was reading a comic book! Not boring! Hunter knew he should keep walking and work on his homework, but he couldn't help himself. He stopped in his tracks and doubled back, his curiosity taking over.
He reached the armchair the boy was sitting in and leaned on the armrest, peering over the boy's arm at the comic in his hand. The Mad Muggle series? "Wow, wizards have comic books, too?" Hunter asked eagerly, not really aware of the fact that he'd just invaded the boy's personal space without even bothering to introduce himself. Oh, maybe he should introduce himself. "I'm Hunter," he said quickly, taking his eyes off the comic book long enough to see that the boy reading it looked to be about the same age.

| Did wizards have comic books? "Of course they do," Dan smirked. This boy was probably muggle-born if he was comparing muggle comics to wizard ones. And incredibly stupid, clearly. He leaned sideways a bit. To give himself some space to actually breathe.
"I'm Daniel. First-year Slytherin." The other boy seemed to be around the same age as him, by his appearance and not knowing much about the wizarding world. "No offence, but what do you want?" Plenty of offence meant, of course. |

| "Wow!" Hunter said, his eyes scanning the pages that the boy had the book open to in awe. "That's amazing! Who knew?!" The boy leaned to the side slightly, and Hunter took it as an invitation to put his nose even closer to the book. "And here I thought the library was only full of boring books. This changes everything!" Maybe the library wasn't as awful as he thought. Not if it had comic books.
The boy introduced himself as Daniel, and apparently he was in Slytherin. Hunter wasn't sure if the fact that Daniel was in Slytherin was a bad thing or not. The first person he thought of when he heard the word Slytherin was Jen. And Jen was a terrible person. But then, Leila was a Slytherin as well, and she'd seemed pretty nice when he talked to her. So it was a fifty fifty chance, really. "I'm a first year, too!" Hunter said enthusiastically. "I'm in Gryffindor."
A moment later, Daniel proved to be on the ruder side of Slytherins. At least he said no offence. That was kind of nice. Only it really wasn't. "I just wanted to see your book," Hunter said, shrugging. He leaned back to give Daniel more space, but wasn't to be deterred. "Are there other cool books like that in here?"
