Riddles

We all know being in Ravenclaw is all about wit and intelligence. Therefore, to stay sharp and have fun, I thought it would be interesting to have a thread where everyone could post riddles for other House Members to solve. So if you have an interesting one (it can be a riddle you heard somewhere or one that you invented), just post it here. Whoever solves it should add one of his or her own. Here is a simple one to begin with.

When you do nothing, I go to waste,
When I’m insufficient, you make haste.
What am I?

Fire?

Unfortunately, that's not what I had in mind. You may guess again, or if you want I can try to come up with another clue.

Not what I imagined either, and it doesn't really work with the first line. The second sentence is really helpful to finding the solution: what do you lack when you're in a hurry?

Not very good perhaps; I've never tried to make up a riddle before. If it's too hard, I'll post a new one.

You made that one up yourself? It's really great. And I have to admit I had no idea what the solution was, but I'm glad Emma found it.

There are foour brothers in this world that were born together. The first runs and never weakens. The second eats and is never full. The third drinks and is always thirsty. The fourth sings a song that is never good.
