| "The usual," Hunter said to the barkeep as he approached the counter in the Three Broomsticks. "And one for here," he added before the barkeep could head into the back to put together the giant box of butterbeer that Hunter bought on a regular basis to take back to the castle with him. He waited to take a seat, watching the barkeep's back until they disappeared into the back room. The pub was busy, and that would be enough to keep most people from doing what Hunter was about to do - but Hunter had stolen firewhiskey from the pub more than once, and he knew that the crowded, chaotic nature of the place would actually make it easy.
Seeing a mostly-full bottle sitting toward the other end of the bar, Hunter made his way in that direction. He pushed his way between two older wizards who were sitting there and grabbed the entire bottle as casually as if he were picking up a mug of butterbeer. Without even looking, he slipped it deftly into his bag and retreated. The old men nearby didn't notice - they were clearly drunk, and one was talking animatedly and swinging his arms around, half-falling off of his stool as Hunter passed. Without a word, Hunter elbowed the man back into place and took the only empty seat at the bar. Just as he slid onto the stool, the barkeep emerged and slid a mug of butterbeer to him. "Thanks," Hunter said, catching it and raising it to his lips. It tasted amazing, as always - even with his lacking appetite, he couldn't resist butterbeer.
Hunter glanced around unconsciously, searching for familiar faces in the crowd. It was busy, but it was unlikely that he'd find any of his friends there - which he was glad for, to be truthful. It wasn't a weekend, and Hunter was only stopping in after work, so he'd intruded on a slightly older crowd. One that didn't have to worry about school. He wasn't surprised that there was nobody there that he knew, but for some reason, a bit of recognition sparked in his brain at the sight of the guy sitting just to the right of him. Hunter furrowed his brow as he took in the guy, who was definitely older, but not by much. He definitely had seen him before. "Did you go to Hogwarts?" Hunter asked him, looking at him curiously. | |
